Economic Development

One the key goals of E4S is to collaborate with strategic partners on catalytic projects that transform or create new industries.

Since 2003 E4S has participated in the Cuyahoga Valley Intiative, lead by Cuyahoga County Planning Commission. E4S encouraged our strategic partners at the Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) to participate in both Phase I and Phase II of this project. Read about some of the results of Phase I here. The results of Regeneration Zone, Phase II of this project were completed in June 2006 and can be found on the RMI web site. E4S has participated as a advisor on the business of sustainability and industrial ecology, provided RMI with a local operational support and network connections and assisted with attracting project funding.

The Cuyahoga County Commissioners were so intrigued with the Waste=Revenue Roundtable, one of the projects started during the Regeneration Zone Project, that they funded the continuation of the project into 2007.

Reflection

In the end, the question is not "How do we use nature to serve our interests?" It is "How can we use humans to serve nature's interest?"
